Saturday, May 26

SHAVUOT ALL NIGHT LEARNING

Shavuot Night Learning will be held from 11:30 p.m. -5:00 a.m. The event is hosted by the Beth Sholom Youth Department, working in conjunction with HAFTR High School. The event is geared towards teens and children but all are welcome to come. There will be classes throughout the whole night with Rabbi Gedaliah Oppen at 11:30 p.m., Rabbi Reuven Farrett at 2:00 a.m., Rabbi Daniel BenNun at 2:30 a.m. and Rabbi Ben Skydell at 3:15 a.m. Moshe Cohen and the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Party will begin at 4:00 a.m. There will be an all night pasta bar and omelet station. The event will take place at Congregation Beth Sholom at 390 Broadway in Lawrence. Admission is free.

 

Sunday, May 27

INWOOD MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

The Inwood Memorial Day Parade will be held this Sunday, starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Inwood train station parking lot. The parade will proceed on Doughty Boulevard to the PFC. John J. Oliveri V.F.W Post 1582 at Doughty Boulevard and Mott Avenue. Hot dogs and soda will be served to those who wish to attend.

 

Sunday, May 27

ICE CREAM PARTY

Come and hear the Ten Commandments followed by an Ice Cream and Cheesecake Party. There will be a large variety of toppings, as well as many exquisite cheesecakes and a dairy buffet. The event takes place at 11:00 a.m. at Chabad of Hewlett, located at 1160 Broadway. Admission is free.

 

 

Monday, May 28

LAWRENCE-CEDARHURST MEMORIAL DAY PARADE

Before heading to the beach this Memorial Day, check out the Lawrence-Cedarhurst 2012 Memorial Day Parade. The Lawrence-Cedarhurst American Legion will hold a brief service at the Veterans Memorial Village at 10:30 a.m. The Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. following a short service at the Lawrence- Cedarhurst Fire Department and continue onto the Cedarhurst Memorial Plaza, in the Andrew J. Parise Park, where a service will be held to remember “fallen comrades” and honor who have served or are serving in the military. Refreshments will be served following the conclusion of the service. If you are a veteran, or know of a veteran in the Lawrence-Cederhurst area that would like to participate, as well as any organization that would like to march, please contact Mayor Andrew Parise at the Village of Cedarhurst: 295-5770.
